WATERMELONS                                Approximately 200 seeds per oz.
CULTURE; In early summer, till soil. Sow 2-3 seeds, 1/2-1" deep, 18-24" apart in a row spacing of
4-5'. After emerge, thin to 1 healthy plant per hill. Keep soil moist and weed free. Seeds can also
be started indoors in Pro-trays or similar pots. Place 2 seeds per pot. Germinate at 75-80F.
Transplant outdoors after plants have 3 true leaves. You will need 3,500 to 4,000 plants per acre.
HARVEST; Now here the fun begins!! There are 3 ways to tell when your watermelon is ripe; 1)
tendril nearest point of vine where fruit stem attaches is browning, 2) Spot where fruit rests on
ground has turned yellow, 3) The classic mystery you hear PLUNK " verses " PLINK or PLANK "

You will need 1 oz of seed per 100' of row or 1-2 lbs per acre or 3,500 to 4,000 plants per acre.

BLACK DIAMOND 95 days. Large melon with a glossy, solid black
green rind. Flesh is red, juicy, tender and crisp. A hardy midseason
melon. Great for a home garden. 30-40 lbs size. Untreated seed.

CARMEN F1 86 days. Globular green striped melon with pink-red
sweet flesh. 15-20 lbs size. Treated seed

CAROLINA CROSS 95 days. Worlds largest watermelon
variety, up to 262 lbs. Sweet, fine flesh. Treated seeds.

CHARLESTON GRAY 85 days. Oblong shape with a light green rind
with dark stripes. Fine red flesh has a firm texture and a sweet flavor.
30-40 lbs size. Untreated seeds.

COBB GEM 100 days. Record setting size with a good flavor. Mammoth
melons often weigh up to 130 lbs. Dark green rind with attractive pale
green stripes. Bright red flesh with grayish seeds. Treated seed only.

CRIMSON DELIGHT F1
78 days. Semi-elongated melons weigh 22-26 lb. A hybrid Crimson
Sweet type with a darker green rind. Fruits have a bright red, sweet
flesh. Treated seed.

DELTA F1
83 days. Delta's flesh is deep red in color, sweet and juicy. The
large fruit have an oblong shape with good weight and striped.
20-26 pound size. Treated seed.

DESERT KING 85 days. By far the most drought tolerant of all watermelons.
Has a pea green rind. Flesh is a deep, rich yellow color with grayish-black
seeds. Since red flesh is dominance over yellow, some melons may have
red flesh. It has the ability to lie on the vine for a month or so after ripening
and still hold its good qualities. Will not sunburn. Treated only

CRIMSON SWEET 85 days. Most popular melon grown. Melon have a
very sweet flesh, deep red in color, firm and fine textured. Fruit is nearly
round with a thick, tough, medium green rind that has dark green stripes.
15-30 LB size. Untreated seed.

JADE STAR F1 75 days. Improved Sugar Baby type with more uniform,
sweeter, redder flesh. This one will make Sugar Baby obsolete. 14 LBS fruits.
High yields. Treated seed

FIESTA F1 88 days. This hybrid has the rind pattern, interior qualities and
sweetness of a Sangria, but attains a larger, more blocky shape. Fiesta
picks well over multiple harvests even under difficult growing. 22-26 LB
melon with dark green rind with broken, light green stripes. Bright red flesh.
Allsweet type. Treated seed.

MOON AND STARS 95 days. Legendary variety rediscovered in rural
Missouri. 40 lb, very sweet, bright red flesh, dark-green skin speckled with
bright yellow splashes. Untreated seed.

LEGACY 85 days. Legacy has attractive deep red, firm flesh with a very
good taste. 20-25 LB size. Rind is dark green with lighter green stripes. Has a
long shelf life. Treated seed.

SANGRIA F1 87 days. Great taste and sweetness combined with good field
performance for overall desirability. This melon is very sweet with a dark red
flesh. Great yields. Treated seeds.

ROYAL JUBILEE F1 95 days. 25-30# melon with light and dark stripes.
Flesh is bright red with freat taste. Tough rind is excellent for shipping
with a high fruit yield.

SUGAR BABY 80 days. Small, icebox type melon. 6-10 LB size. Great
yielder of round striped melons when immature, urning dark green with a
yellow belly when ripe. Flesh is deep red sweet and has a great taste.
Untreated seeds.

SWEET HARMONY F1 90 days. Oblong, allsweet type melon. Produces
18-22# melon with deep, red, sweet flesh. Rind is dark green with lighter
green stripes. Excellent fruit production with low incidences of bottle
necking. Untreated seed.

SWEET FAVORITE F1
80 Days. A long time favorite for many. 22-25# oblong fruit has sweet, bright
red flesh with light green stripped rind. Untreated seed.

YELLOW DOLL F1 70 days. Hybrid icebox type with a crisp,
sweet yellow flesh. Oval shape, medium green with dark green
stripes. Thin, tender rind. Treated seed.
